MERGER UPDATE FROM PRESIDENT WINN
Dear IACREOT Members,
For the past year and a half we have been discussing the possibility of merging with NACRC. The Executive leadership is now prepared to bring our membership up to speed on what has transpired during that time.
Last year we entered into negotiations with NACRC and each organization formed individual committees to examine the current structure. This allowed both boards to have a clear picture of how each association functioned, and more importantly, identify what was of critical importance to the members (such as education programs, conferences, outreach, etc.).
Deliberate negotiations continued throughout the year – sometimes there were difficult discussions, and various viewpoints have been duly noted and will be considered – but in the end it was clear that members of both organizations remain passionate about the industry in general and protecting the essential building blocks, which has created a solid foundation for both NACRC and IACREOT.
In January both boards were unanimous and voted to continue the merger discussions and to bring the question of a merger to the full memberships of both organizations. But what does a “merger” mean? In simple terms we will be recommending to our members that a new organization be formed in September of 2015, which will operate independently of NACRC and IACREOT.
During this time all of the details, the finer points and the ins and outs will be ironed out and spelled out in a new set of bylaws and organizational structure. Both NACRC and IACREOT will run concurrently with this process through September of 2016 – at which time each organization will be dissolved and the new, single organization will emerge – representing the finest Clerks, Recorders, Election Officials and Treasurers – both nationally and internationally.
The vote on this proposal will be taking place on June 30, 2015 (in Vail for IACREOT) and electronically for NACRC. Thank you for your support throughout this process and for your commitment to IACREOT.
